19//Instrumented Scotland

Scotland is the demo.

The seven civil missions, pinned to the geography that shaped them — live natural events, offshore wind sites, mountain-rescue country and flood corridors, on one operations board. Every pin routes to the airframe built for it.

15//The case for early detection

Same ignition. Two endings.

Fire seasons keep breaking their own records. The variable that decides whether an ignition becomes a paragraph or a catastrophe is time-to-detection — so here is the same fire, twice, side by side: once found by a passer-by, once found by a NIGHTJAR thermal patrol.

WITHOUT PATROLREPORTED BY PHONE · T+41 MIN
WIND-DRIVEN SPREAD BEFORE CREWS ARRIVE
NIGHTJAR ON STATIONTHERMAL CONFIRM · T+38 S
ONE CREW · CONTAINED AT FIRST ATTACK

Accelerated model for illustration — cellular spread under a steady wind, identical seed and terrain both sides. Detection latency on the right is the figure validated in the engineering simulator (under 40 seconds from ignition to alert).

The heat picture, imagined

A concept study of what a forest fire-watch pass could look like — one hot spot blooming in a dark canopy, the early-warning picture CUSTOS is being built to read.

The low pass, imagined

A concept study of the pass itself — the view down a highland ridgeline under low cloud, the mission profile the programme is built around, rendered before it exists.
